Biography
Practicing since 2005, Marissa Elkins began her solo law practice in July 2012 and expanded to Elkins Law Group, LLC in 2014, and again to Elkins, Auer, Rudof & Schiff in 2018.
Marissa began her career as a public defender, working as a staff attorney for the Northampton Superior Court office of the Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS). Marissa focuses her practice on criminal defenseand appellate advocacy. She represents clients in Superior and District Court throughout Hampshire, Hampden, Berkshire and Franklin Counties. Marissa is a lifetime member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and served on theBoard of Directorsfrom 2014 to 2020. She is also a member of NACDL's CLE committee and has organized multi-day trainings in Boston and Savannah, Georgia presented at national conferences.She is past-President of the Hampshire County Bar Association,a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation andthe Massachusetts Bar Foundation, and a member of numerous other legal organizations.In 2015, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly named Marissa one of its Lawyers of the Year.
In November 2021, Marissa was elected Northampton City Councilor At-large and beginsthat service in January 2022. She volunteers for many community organizations including Community Legal Aid, Safe Passage, and the Hampshire County Bar Advocate Program.
